Please read the dress code thoroughly and know the proper requirements for your child’s dance studies. Following the dress code is an important aspect of dance classes.
*Payless, Target, Walmart, etc. DO NOT sell the proper supportive dance shoes recommended for dance activity. (Their attire, accessories and clothing are fine for class.)
*Please show up prepared for class. Follow the guidelines and rules listed below.
*A yoga mat is recommended for stretch/conditioning classes.
*Do not wear dance shoes outside of the studio.
Ballet/Pointe- leotard, ballet belt, convertible or full-foot pink tights and pink ballet shoes (Bloch and Capezio brands are preferred). Ballet skirts are at the discretion of the instructor. Hair is to be in a bun secured with bobby pins (not hairpins). Boys- black jazz pants, white t-shirts, and black ballet shoes.
*Competition dancers & recreational ballet dancers (starting at the Youth level): it is strongly recommended that you purchase the Technical Manual and Dictionary of Classical Ballet by Gail Grant. It can be purchased for under $5.00 on websites such as Amazon. Electronic versions are also available for your devices.
Jazz/Tap/Lyrical/Contemporary/Combination Class/Stretch- a combination of leotard, tights, sports bra, spandex shorts and leggings. Hair is to be secured in a ponytail or bun.
Shoes are as follows for the recreational level only:
Jazz- tan gore boot
Lyrical/Contemporary- at the discretion of the instructor. (We usually dance barefoot.)
Tap- Creative movement level uses black patent leather tap shoes.
Petite and Youth levels use Bloch brand, tan, “Mary Jane” tap shoes.
Tween and Teen levels use Bloch brand, black, “Respect” tap shoes.
Hip Hop/Conditioning- athletic clothing. Please do not wear pants that may drag on the floor. Shoes are as follows for the recreational level only:
Hip Hop- Converse brand, black on black, canvas, high top tennis shoes. These
can be found at the retail store JOURNEY’S located in Belden Village Mall or
The sizes run big. First time buyers may want to purchase them at the store for sizing purposes.
Conditioning- supportive tennis shoes. Please do not wear you outdoor shoes into the studios.
Acrobatics- leotard, spandex shorts and bare feet. Hair is to be secured in a ponytail.
